LCCC Announces Staff Appointments

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) has approved the appointments of the following administrators/faculty.

Dr. Michael L. Torrence has accepted the position of Associate Academic Dean at LCCC.

Dr. Torrence earned his M.A. and B.A. in English at South Dakota University and his Ph.D. in Exceptional Learning/Literacy at Tennessee Technological University.

He was an Assistant Professor in the division of Education at Keystone College where he also served as the Liberal Arts Education Curriculum Coordinator and Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Student Life.  Prior to this Dr. Torrence was a research fellow at the University of Lower Silesia in Wroclaw, Poland, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Tennessee Technological College and at LCCC.

Carol A. Siegmund has been appointed Instructor of Nursing at LCCC. Siegmund is an RN with over 20 years of experience as a staff nurse and clinical instructor, most recently serving as an adjunct faculty member at LCCC. She worked at Allentown Osteopathic Hospital and at Lehigh Valley Hospital and earned a B.S.N. from Cedar Crest College.

Christy Hediger, a former adjunct faculty member at LCCC, has been appointed Instructor of Mathematics. Hediger earned her B.S. in Mathematics from Muhlenberg College and her MS. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Delaware, where she served as a teaching assistant.

LCCC has named Beth Marquardt as Instructor of Reading/Developmental English. Prior to coming to LCCC, she was employed as an adjunct faculty member at Briarcliffe College and Suffolk Community College, as well as a Reading/Writing College Instructor at the Interboro Institute in New York. Marquardt earned her B.S. in Education from Oneonta State University and her M.A. in Reading Education from Hunter College.

Betsy Swope, Ph.D. has been appointed Instructor of Psychology at LCCC. Prior employment includes Program Director at The Devereux Foundation Treatment Center. Swope earned her B.A. in Psychology from West Chester University and her Ph.D. from Temple University, where she served as an adjunct faculty member.

LCCC has named Dominic Christison as Associate Dean for Distance Education. Christison earned his M.A. in English at the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.  He was most recently employed at Centura College Online in Virginia Beach, Virginia in a number of positions including Professor of English and Freelance Course Developer, Dean of Academic Development, and Director of Education.  Christison also served as President and CEO of Integrity Online in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Assistant Director of Studies at Coast Language Academy in Portland, Oregon.
