Family:  Dale and his wife, Beverly, have been married for 38 years.  They have a son, a daughter and five grandchildren.

Occupation:  He is the manager of Kistler Building Supply.

Fire Company:  Dale has been with the Lower Macungie Fire Department for 17 years.  Previously, he was a member of the Macungie Fire Department for 21 years. 

Describe your job with the fire company.  “I volunteer with the fire police.  Basically, we control the traffic at emergency scenes—fires, traffic accidents, etc.  We work with the fire department and the State Police.  I also take care of the fire police truck.

“In addition, I am the Emergency Management Coordinator for Lower Macungie Township for the past 15 years.  During emergencies, I take care of the township’s emergency plan and coordinate the necessary organizations and facilities.  The hurricane and snowstorm last year were two big examples of coordinating emergencies.”

What is it that keeps you coming back?  “It’s exciting.  There is always something different at each scene.”

What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company?  “Every scene is different and you must be able to adapt quickly.  Contact the department or come out on a meeting night.  We have good camaraderie here.”
