Annual Eyer Rock-a-thon Set for Friday

On Friday Jan. 18, roughly 325 middle school students will be participating in the 2013 Rock-a-thon at Eyer Middle School.  The Rock-a-thon is a long running tradition at Eyer.  In a nutshell, teams of five to 10 students stay overnight at the school, participate in a variety of fun activities, and take turns rocking in their team rocking chairs to raise money for charity.  This year’s charity is the Justin W. Jennings foundation. The Jennings foundation operates a beautiful house in Bethany Beach and provides beach vacations to families in the region that are dealing with cancer.

This year's participants plan to raise more money than ever!  The total will be revealed at the awards ceremony on Friday night.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort donated lift tickets as prizes for the participants who raised the most money.  Several local businesses will be running activities throughout the evening, including: Emmaus Yoga Studio, Leading Edge Martial Arts, and DJ Freddie Frederick, Jr.  Stay tuned to find out exactly how much money these fantastic middle school students raised in one fun-filled evening!
