The Ben Yorgey Foundation is passionately dedicated to honoring the legacy of Ben Yorgey and generating funds for graduating high school students with special needs across the Lehigh Valley.  Ben was driven by an ultimate purpose -- to share his gift of love, and we are all changed people because of it.  And through this change, Ben Yorgey Foundation exists to make a positive impact, an impact Ben would be proud of.  Never meet a stranger.  There is no such thing.  Love everyone.

The Ben Yorgey Foundation, which is 501C3, was established in order to raise money to support our goals.  The annual vehicle for raising resources is THE BEN EVENT. The event is held in July of each year - Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21 this year - at Macungie Memorial Park. 

Activities for The Ben Event include a "Friday Night Kick-Off," a 5K race, the 1-mile Fun Walk, Breakfast In The Park, Ben's Block Party, sports events for athletes with special needs, a “Wheels of Time” Cruise Night, Chinese Auction ... AND LOTS MORE!

The Friday Night Kick Off begins tonight, July 20th at 5:30 p.m. with pregame activities including softball team warm-ups, Jolly Holly the Clown, Reading Phillies mascot - Screwball, t-shirt launches and more.  The Special Olympics softball game begins at 6:00 p.m. featuring athletes from Lehigh County. The first ball will be thrown by WFMZ Sports Director Troy Hein, who will serve as the evening’s master of ceremonies when the action shifts to the Bandshell at 7:15 p.m. Featured will be guest speakers, local dignitaries, and recipients of the Ben Yorgey Memorial Awards. The Large Flowerheads will take the stage at 8 p.m., with a repertoire of classic rock from the 60’s.

The Ben Event Chinese Auction has more than 20 baskets filled with all kinds of gifts, gift cards and services available with something for everyone! The baskets will be on display and tickets available for purchase beginning with the Friday Night Kick Off through the Wheels of Time Cruise Night. Included in the baskets are 4 Park Hopper passes for Disney World! Other items include, but are not limited to, an overnight stay at Comfort Suites, passes to Dorney Park, DaVinci Center, Longwood Gardens, Lehigh Valley Zoo and more. We have gift certificates from area restaurants and eateries as well as hair salons and areas stores. We also have fine handcrafted items from Stephanie Murphy and DiBello Metal Designs.

We are looking for your support to make The Ben Event a success. Volunteer, participation, donation and sponsorship opportunities are available. Your support will enable the Ben Yorgey Foundation to help the lives of local graduating seniors with special needs.
