5 Hurt in Lower Macungie Crash
Man drives into woman's car trying to enter I-78 in wrong lane, police say.
Five people were injured recently in a two-vehicle accident along Route 222 in Lower Macungie Township, according to police.
The incident began at 8:19 p.m. July 12 when Arline Fisher, 62, of Plainfield, N.J., was in the wrong lane of Route 222 attempting to make a left turn onto the ramp to Interstate 78 eastbound, according to state police at Fogelsville. A 17-year-old driver from Whitehall Township, whose name was not released by police because of his age, could not stop in time as he came up behind Fisher and struck her car from behind.
Police said the two drivers received minor injuries. Three of Fisher's passengers -- ages 5, 9 and 13 -- were moderately hurt. The injured were transported by Macungie and Cetronia EMS and Lower Macungie Fire Department assisted.
Both drivers were cited, police said.
