Alburtis' Field of Dreams

A sea of grape hyacinths returns to Lock Ridge Park, meaning the Lockridge May Festival can't be far behind.

They're back, and the sea of bluish purple across the field at in Alburtis has not disappointed.

The scene of the extraordinary number of grape hyacinths, also known as bluebells, is an annual one at the Lehigh County-owned park at the former site of Lockridge Furnace. Spring is here and so are the grape hyacinths.

Each year, many come to view the unusual cluster of the flowers. Their blooms precede the annual , which this year will be from noon to 5 p.m. May 1 in the park.
