Occupation: “I am temporarily unemployed at this time, due to a traumatic accident at work where a co-worker, who was also a relative, was killed.”

Training: “I have a lot of training. It keeps on going and never stops. There is always something new to learn. I have a whole book of certificates — there are too many to name.”
Describe your job with the fire company. “I have been a firefighter with Alburtis for six years. Basically, I go out on calls — sometimes they are for fires and sometimes it is an accident. Sometimes they are false alarms, too.”
Why did you choose to become a firefighter? “I want to help people in their time of need. I always wanted to be a firefighter.”
How do your loved ones feel about you putting your life in danger? “My family is very supportive of what I do. Sometimes they are afraid, but they know it's what I like doing.”
What would you tell people interested in joining your fire company? “Do it. Try it. You might like it and we need you.”
