Occupation: She works in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at St. Luke’s Hospital—Allentown Campus.
Fire Company: Allison volunteers with the Lower Macungie Fire Company Women’s Association.
Describe your job with the women’s association and how you got involved: “I am the secretary of the women’s association. I mostly take the minutes for the group, but I also do other things. I help with the annual egg hunt at Easter and the Christmas party. I help with fundraising for the firefighters and assist with the annual open house.”
Do you have family members involved with the fire department? “My entire family is with the department: My dad, Brent McNabb is the assistant chief. My uncle, Jim Doherty, is the deputy chief. My husband, Joe, is a captain. And my brother, Gabe McNabb, is a captain. Also, my grandfather, Allen McNabb was the fire chief at one time.”
How do you feel about your loved one putting his/her life in danger? “I’m proud of all of them. They do a great thing and love their job [as a firefighter].”
What would you tell people interested in joining the ladies auxiliary? “We are looking for new and younger members. It is a great way to get involved with the community. Come and join us. We meet the third Monday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Wescosville building.”
