Driver Rescued from Lower Macungie Crash
Montour County man's car flips on roof in Route 100 collision, police say.
A Montour County driver was injured Tuesday morning in Lower Macungie Township when his vehicle collided with another, flipped on its roof and skidded to a stop on Route 100, police said.
Daniel F. Oberdorf, 39, of Danville, had to be cut from the wreckage by emergency personnel following the 6:55 a.m. crash at Spring Creek Road, according to state police at Fogelsville.
Police said Daniel Murphy Sr., 57, of Alburtis was driving a Ford van east on Spring Creek Road. Oberdorf, driving a Chevrolet mini-van and traveling on Route 100, ran a red light, crashing into Murphy's van.
Oberdorf's mini-van flipped onto its roof and skidded before coming to rest in the passing lane of Route 100, police said. Murphy's van spun before coming to rest in the intersection.
Oberdorf was rescued from his vehicle by personnel from Alburtis and Trexlertown fire departments, police said. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie Ambulance with an injury of unknown severity.
Neither Murphy nor his passenger, Jeremy D. Leech, 35, of Alburtis, received hospital transport, police said.
Obersdorf was cited for failing to stop at a red light, police said.
