East Penn Will Make Printable Report Cards Available
For 2012-2013 school year, a print-friendly PDF version of student report cards will be made available to East Penn School District parents and guardians.
There was some good news at Monday night’s meeting of the East Penn Board of School Directors for those East Penn parents and guardians who were upset by the school district’s move to a paperless report card system last year.
Michael Mohn, East Penn director of information technology, told the board that print-friendly PDF versions of student report cards will be made available through the district’s Home Access site beginning with the 2012-2013 school year.
This way parents who still want a paper copy of their child’s report card can print one out. Once printed, the report card can be tri-folded the same way the paper copies that the district used to send home had been.
Last year’s transition to electronic grade reports was part of the district’s “Going Green” initiative, which is about protecting the environment and saving some money by decreasing the amount of districtwide printing and mailing.
Another of last year’s paperless initiatives -- the elimination of the district's calendar -- also met with some upset by parents, and a paper East Penn calendar is also making a comeback this year.
Superintendent Thomas L. Seidenberger told the East Penn community that he would bring the printed calendar back if enough sponsorship funds could be raised to pay for it.

I will be so glad to have those printed report cards. I wish I had one from this past school year! I was also happy to see the return of the printed calender, but surprised when all 3 of my children brought one home, Just giving ONE PER FAMILY would have been fine.
