Emmaus Grad Resigns From Nazareth School Board
Michael Woodland, who had not yet attended his first school board meeting, resigned due to personal reasons, Superintendent Victor Lesky said Monday night.

Superintendent Victor Lesky made the announcement Monday night, surprising board members. Personal issues were among Woodland's reasons for handing in his resignation, Lesky said.
Woodland also recently announced that , which he co-owns, will be opening a location in Lower Nazareth Township later this spring.

Gary Brienza, the solicitor for Nazareth Area School District, said the board will need to appoint someone in 30 days, as required by state law.
School board member Linda McDonald nominated Bethlehem attorney Robert Pinel, a Lower Nazareth resident who was among the interviewees on Jan. 5.

The board tabled a vote on the nomination until Jan. 30.
The seat Woodland was chosen to fill was left vacant after the Thomas Maher on Nov. 30.
