Eyer Students Hunt for Lincoln's Killer
Students from Eyer's sixth grade Pod 3 read 'Chasing Lincoln's Killer' by James L. Swanson then portrayed selected characters.
Apropos to the season of Presidents Day—and Abraham Lincoln's birthday in particular—students from Eyer Middle School's sixth grade Pod 3 on Monday took on the hunt for the president's killer after reading "Chasing Lincoln's Killer" by James L. Swanson.
Led by Pod 3 teachers Susan Bauer, Denise Brosky and Jolanda Veseli, 96 students split up into groups of four to bring the book to life as John Wilkes Booth, Everton Conger, Mary Surratt, Clara Harris and others who had parts in the drama that surrounded President Abraham Lincoln's death on April 15, 1865.
The culmination of their weeks of study made for rich historical entertainment.
