3. Alburtis Festivities: The Alburtis Holiday Festival starts at 8 a.m. today at a Breakfast with Santa in the Alburtis Area Community Center. Events run all day and include a cookie sale, dinner and benefit and, of course, the tree lighting at 6:15 p.m. Don't miss it!

5. Today in History: On this day in 1991, Islamic militants in Lebanon released Terry Anderson, a kidnapped U.S. journalist, after he had spent 2,454 days in captivity. Anderson was the chief Middle East correspondent for the Associated Press and had covered the civil war in Lebanon.
