Canada geese search for kernels of corn, and in some instances even ears, that were left behind following the recent harvest.

The geese begin to gain some altitude with trees and utility lines as a backdrop.
The geese now soar high above the cornfield in their classic 'V' shape.
A partial ear of corn remains to be picked at on another day.

It's that time of year again.

Just after the harvest of the cornfield at Willow and Sauerkraut lanes in Lower Macungie Township, flocks of Canada geese descend on the acreage to pick it clean of the kernels left behind. The birds spend hours uncovering the treasures between the rows of cut corn stalks.

They feast before flying South for the winter.

When the geese come you know fall is here. I've noticed declining numbers over the years. There was a time when the geese flocks flew overheard and was deafening the sound and awesome to see.
