Driver Veers Off Road Into Little Lehigh Creek

Area man hurt when his car veers off Willow Lane and partially into creek, police say.

A Breinigsville-area man found himself in cold water on New Year's Day after his car went off a Lower Macungie Township road, struck a tree and partially submerged in a creek, police said.

Samuel Correll, 61, was moderately hurt and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie EMS, according to state police at Fogelsville.

Correll's vehicle was southbound on Willow Lane at 7:05 a.m. near John Fries Drive and was traveling too fast for conditions when he failed to negotiate a curve, police said. Correll's car hit a tree, continued into a ditch and landed partially in the Little Lehigh Creek.

Macungie EMS was assisted by Lower Macungie Fire Department.

Correll was cited for traveling too fast for conditions, police said.
