Macungie Councilman's Residency Challenged
Jean Nagle wonders if Joseph Sikorski still lives in the borough
It seems no Macungie Council meeting so far this year is without a big surprise:
* At the Jan. 7 meeting, Mayor Rick Hoffman brought back the issue of installing in borough police cars GPS systems he can monitor from his home. It passed in a 4-to-1 vote.
* At the Jan. 21 meeting, Council Member Jean Nagle was voted out as president, and Councilman Christopher Becker was voted in. Again the vote was split, this time 5 to 2.
The latest volley between council's warring factions was an attempt to unseat Councilman Joseph Sikorski.
At the beginning of the Feb. 4 meeting, Nagle addressed the rest of council -- minus David Boyko who was absent -- during the "Council Compliments, Complaints, Petitions and Appeals" segment of the meeting.
"I've been hearing talk around town in the past few months that calls into question the residency of Councilman Joe Sikorski and his wife. Do they reside in the borough?" she asked.
Sikorski explained that he does live in Macungie, though his wife recently inherited property outside the borough. She has been living there, he said, "But I live in Macungie. I will be joining her there this later this year."
Both Sikorski's and Nagle's terms run out in 2013.
Nagle's reaction was open to interpretation, but she basically accepted the matter as settled by Sikorski's explanation.
"I just wanted to dispel any rumors in town," Nagle said.

Seriously, his term ends this year. Why would she want him out other than to replace him with one of "their own" to help finish out the damage they're planning to do from now until the of the year by her, Hutchison, and the Mayor? Can't stand the heat Nagle, then why don't you resign and take Hutchison with you. He doesn't show up for half the meetings anyway. Probably only the ones you need his vote. Bunch of sick people.

This council is like a type 1 diabetic that accepts a free tour of the Hershey Factory, it's bent on self-destruction. We finally have a President that is getting the job done without all the drama and school-yard antics. The moron "mayor" seems to be keeping his fat trap shut for once, things seem to be calming down and the people in office that are supposed to help make this beautiful little town thrive can do their work. Then Jean Nagle decides it's a little too quiet and has to roil the waters once again. I agree with "Just Say It" -- leave Nagle, take Hutchison and pee boy Walker with you and let some people you care about Macungie and it's citizens get in there and do some good for our little town, WITHOUT constantly getting into The Morning Call.

Mr. Sikorski, you are a smart man. There's a group of council members that just keep trying to manipulate people on council and in this town. You live in Macungie and deserve to serve out your term. You try to be reasonable in your decisions and usually will not make a rushed decision. You care about this town that you "live" in. Thank you

Well...as always...the dydfunctional members of council NEVER disappoint!! As both Just Say It and Dave posted above...we agree!!! In response to Nagle's comment, "hearing talk around town..." we, TOO, have all been hearing "talk" of how these dysfunctional members PLAN to inject another member of its own to further damage and distruct this borough and the working members of council with our MPD to follow! Mr. Hutchison has a very large voice around town as well...he has been heard continually bashing the police dept. with his goal to rid of them if not simply to downsize them to the result of inneffectiveness! SHAME on you several sick and dysfunctional councilmen/woman!! You are so transparent...you never have or WILL have the best interests of Macungie residents and our borough at heart!! This is all so disgusting to watch in what could be a peaceful wholesome borough to reside!!

Sure is easy to bash when you hide behind a user name and no knows who you are. But that's besides the point. In reality Macungie is a great wholesome peaceful little town and there is no need to get so upset and feel embarrassed about your public officials. Alot of people would like to live in Macungie. Most of the time public officials have the best interests of their town at heart, it's just that they have different ways of trying to achieve it.

With all due respect Mr. Briber....you have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about! Our borough has been enduring all this dysfunfunction for YEARS and it is becoming more than intolerable! We wish it were as simple as you describe...."just that they have different ways of trying to achieve it..." You bet they do!! Oh it's DIFFERENT all right!
