Willow Lane Elementary Vandalized

Not a banner day at the a Lower Macungie Township school.

The East Penn School District has taken pride in Willow Lane Elementary School, which just completed its second school year.

So, it ruffled a few feathers at the home of the Incredible Hawks when one or more people recently tore down one of the banners in front of the school.

The banners hang from several of the light poles and say "Willow Lane Elementary Incredible Hawks" and show the mascot. One was torn from its mounts between 4 p.m. June 18 and 4:30 a.m. June 20, according to a report filed with state police at Fogelsville. It does not appear that the banner was taken, because the incident is classified as criminal mischief rather than theft. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-395-1438.

The school's principal, Anthony Moyer, made a telephone appeal june 20 to parents of students, according to one parent. Moyer, in a recorded message, said that there had been unspecified vandalism at the school and asked families to watch the school as they passed and report to his office any suspicious activity. That number is 484-519-3300.

Vandelism of our schools must never be deemed acceptable....the culprits must be found out and made to pay in full for the damages
