Rave Reviews for Trexlertown Giant

Patrons enjoy shopping in the new 74,000 square foot Giant store.

Customers exiting the newly-opened Giant Food Store in Trexlertown this last week were unanimous in their praise for the 74,000 square foot supermarket located at 7150 Hamilton Boulevard.

"It was very nice inside, clean and bright and organized well," said Sally Louks of Breinigsville. "I'm new to the area and the people inside were very friendly."

Resa Goldenstein of Macungie agreed. "The people inside were awfully friendly. I liked the wide aisles, although I thought they would have had a larger selection of prepared foods."

Jennifer Clarke-Sirignan of Wescosville said she enjoyed the large produce selection.

"It's nice and it's very large, laid out and spread out very well," she said.

Store manager Michelle Rex surveyed the 18 packed checkout lanes and the self-service checkout lanes and said the store was busy since its 8 a.m. opening.

"It's been very busy, every one of out checkout lanes is open. This is one of the best grand openings we've ever had," she said.

On Tuesday, prior to its opening, the store donated $6,000 to local community organizations.

I went to Giant on Saturday, couldn't get a parking spot so I left after 10 minutes of looking. I hope it's not this packed all the time...I'd hate to have to shop at Walmart.

The employees were indeed incredibly friendly and helpful - hope it stays that way and it's' not just because the store is new. The shopping carts have built-in cup holders, and there's a convenient coffee stand as one enters the store - a real plus! The new Giant has lots of goodies that Wegman's offers, but in the end, it just isn't Wegman's.

Nice store. A definite step up from the old store. Do kind of wish they had upgraded the food court area to include more. The hot food buffet offerings are paltry. Did not expect it to be Wegman's but this one area is a major failing IMHO.

Nice store but the aisles are still way too narrow. As run down as Redner's has become, I like it because the aisles are much wider and easier to navigate. This was my biggest complaint with the old Giant and something I'm amazed they didn't fix in the new store.

We visited Saturday morning, it was a busy place, definitely looks very nice, they did a great job on the produce section and on the extras. I do agree that more could have been done on the cafe-ish area....it's just...blah....if they were trying to come close to what Wegmans has or even an inkling, they failed miserably
