Retail Theft Turns Rough, Police Say
4-year-old injured during confrontation at Lower Macungie Wal-Mart, report says.
A 4-year-old boy was hurt during a Sept. 6 retail theft get-away at Wal-Mart in Lower Macungie Township, according to police.
State police at Fogelsville said two men were confronted at 2:55 p.m. when they tried to leave the store at 1091 Millcreek Road with about $175 worth of concealed electronics devices. They said the first man pushed two store security workers to the ground and escaped. The second man, Heriberto Hernandez of Allentown was caught and charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy.
Police did not detail how the 4-year-old was injured, but said he was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for evaluation.
The man who escaped was described as being Hispanic and 30-35 years old, 6-foot, 225 pound, with black hair, brown eyes, wearing a black North Face jacket and jean shorts.
