Strong-Arm Robbery Was a Hoax

Instead, police said, it was a drug deal gone bad.

The report of a strong-arm robbery that took place late Oct. 26 in the parking lot of the Turkey Hill Minit Market in Macungie was instead an act of revenge, police said.

Just after 11 p.m., Corey Cummings, 29, of Oley, arranged to meet John Leonti Jr., 46, of Reading, to buy drugs from him.

When Leonti didn't have any drugs for Cummings, Cummings became angry and fabricated the story that Leonti, a supposed stranger, grabbed $80 from Cummings and drove from the lot.

Leonti was stopped a short time later by the Berks-Lehigh Regional Police Department.

Cummings was charged with two counts of making false reports to law enforcement authorities, and was taken to Lehigh County Prison to be arraigned.

Leonti will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
