In a word, yes.

As a former lifeguard and regular renewer of my First Aid and CPR certifications, I consider it a civic duty to stop and help, or at least make sure 911 has been called.

Shame on those who saw it and drove away. Everyone is so afraid of getting "involved" in anything they don't have to, but what happened to being a Good Samaritan?

I hope those who were witnesses will come forward and help give peace and understanding to the survivors of the woman who died and also to those who were injured.

If I witnessed the accident I would remain at the scene for police and call 911. Not certified in first aid or trained, with any more of an injury than cuts and scrapes, so as for any contact or movement of victims or anything it would be best to wait for emergency crew, plus right now the age of my children which are 7 and 9, I do not think that would be something for them to get out of my vehicle and go to the vehicles involved and see what they would see.

How could you leave?

I always stop when i see an accident, but if you stop make sure your car is far enough off the road for some accidents cars who help have been rear ended so use caution. My wife and I were in an accident several months ago hit by a hit and run driver totaled our car and I was in a daze walking in the middle of the road and drivers were driving right by and not stopping.

My husband and I witnessed a woman sideswipe her jeep into the driver ahead of us and jerked it into the center lane and it proceeded to flip about 5 times. We stopped ,but luckily there was a fire engine going in the other direction that saw the accident. It was fortunate for us, as the lady was DOA as she had been thrown from the vehicle. We knew it was bad, but we stopped called 911 and we had no extra time to react as the fire engine was there before we hung up the phone. Neither of us are fully trained in an emergency but we certainly would never have driven off. If we could have helped at all, we would have done what we could. It still bothers me when I drive by the area on that road. What a tragedy to witness. My heart goes out to the family and children of Brandi.

Sad to say, people don't stick around because once you do, you are obligated to go through everything including unpaid court proceedings. You sacrifice time and money from your job. It is so unfortunate. Something needs to be done about it because too many people are afraid to come forward. As for me, I would have stayed until help arrived and given a statement of what I saw. So sad. My heart goes out to everyone involved.

I will say though I would have helped even if it was callng police and remaining on the scene,however I cannot say the same about that when I was hit at the millcreek and lower macungie rd. Out of all the cars passing and the few cars that were behind me they all kept right on going, also was hit by a deer on mountain rd last yr, the deer flew to the other side of the road as cars were coming towards it, had somebody tailgating going up the road and both cars turned around. As a matter of fact I had to start blowing the horn or the one coming towards the deer would have drove right over it the way they were flying. The one behind that person stopped and pulled the deer off the road, then they took the deer.

I think a great rule of thumb is, "what would i want if i were in that situation?" -simply put, "do unto others....". We can probably all recount the times that we have needed someone and they were there AND the times that we needed someone and they weren't there. It is all about what matters to you at that time. I have always stopped. To me, it's worth it (never mind the fact that I might be able to offer some medical assistance). It is too bad that people seem to take the "can't be bothered" attitude, but unfortunately that's kind of where a lot of people are headed. They don't worry about anyone else but themselves. So, if someone does ever stop to help you in a time of need, just make sure you thank them. As we can all see, it's more the exception than the rule these days.

This is preaching to the choir, but offering testimony as a witness is critical. A few years ago I witnessed an accident that involved a college-age driver who sideswiped a car driven by an older man. I stopped as did another woman, We checked on both drivers to make sure no one was injured, and then stuck around until a police officer arrived. He took our names and contact info and let us leave. A few months later, we were asked to appear as witnesses at a hearing because the young driver was claiming that the other driver drove into her. That was absolutely not the case and we (as witnesses) were able to provide that testimony.
It is so sad that so few people feel the need to help out a fellow human being, and it is shocking that at that terrible accident on Lower Macungie Rd. the other day that so many people turned the other way.

,My condolences to Brandi's friends & family. I was in her situation 9 years ago, but because of a fast-acting bystander, the EMS were able to get me out of the crushed car 45 minutes later before I bled to death in my seat. I was lost a couple of times that night, but miraculously lived, and years later did not feel like Humpty Dumpty any more. The bystander called 911, knew enough not to touch me, and he removed the 3 kids in my back seat so they would calm down (we were laying on our side). IT MAY BE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU LOVE ONE DAY. This is the basis of all that is wrong with the world today. The fact that people see court precedings and lost time over the potential loss of life is appalling to me. It's people like this that have shaped the world we are in today. Maybe if these people would just grow some......... and face things head on we could be living in a different world. So sad folks are so spineless these days. My best to Brandi's family and friends.

I am a friend of Brandi and Mike's. It took me a while to bring myself to read these articles. I thank you all for the well wishes during this tragic time. Her daughter Ciera has been released with quite a few broken bones but her son remains hospitalized with head trauma, it'll be a long recovery. Please keep them all on your prayer list.
