Township Snow Emergency Begins at 6 p.m.

Lower Macungie Township declares a snow emergency

Lower Macungie Township has declared a snow emergency which will begin at 6 p.m. and will be in effect until further notice, Ben Galiardo, Lower Mac's emergency management director said.

All vehicles must be removed from snow emergency routes.  Find the  complete list of the township's snow emergency routes here.

Lower Macungie Township officials remind residents that during a snow emergency owners of vehicles parked on snow emergency routes have six hours to remove them after the emergency begins. If they are not removed they will be towed at the owners expense.

Also, after the storm is over homeowners have 48 hours to shovel and salt their sidewalks. If sidewalks are not cleaned in that time period a third party will clean the sidewalks and the homeowner will be billed by the township.

"This could turn out to be a very dangerous storm," Galiardo said, "Please keep checking the weather reports for updates."
