Vandal Targets Macungie Redbox Machine

BB or similar projectile damages movie rental machine's screen, police say.

Maybe a customer didn't like the movie rental. Maybe the machine wouldn't take his credit card. Or maybe the big red target was just too tempting.

Whatever the reason, someone on June 23 took aim at the Redbox DVD rental machine and damaged the screen with a BB pellet or something similar, according to Macungie police. The machine is located in front of the Turkey Hill Minit Market at 141 W. Main St.

Police did not give a value of the damage. The act was classified criminal mischief.

In other Macungie incidents:

-- Police reported a burglary in an unspecified apartment on Brookfield Circle. No signs of forced entry were found, and $800 was reported taken in the June 30 incident.

The victim estimated that this was the seventh incident in which items have been found missing within the past few months. However, this was the first such report he has made, police said.

-- Police said they also charged a 19-year-old Lower Macungie resident July 2 with possession of marijuana. Antwoine Florence, 19, of Iron Drive was found with suspected marijuana at 5:15 p.m. in Village Walk Park.

The above arrest information was supplied by the Macungie Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
