Where Do You Send the Kids to Camp?

This week Patch is looking for the best summer camps in the region.

Now that we're over the Memorial Day marker and heading straight into summer, it's time to start thinking about what the kids will be doing during those hazy, lazy, crazy days of summer.

This week Patch wants to know what you think is the best summer camp in the area? Which group, organization or company either in Lower Macungie Patch or in the region offers the best programs for a quality summer experience?

The possibilities:

Lower Macungie Community Center

Wildlands Conservancy

Lehigh Valley Martial Arts/Active Learning Center

Emmaus Community Park

Other

If you vote "Other," please tell us in the comments what that other place is so we can count it as a vote!

If there’s another local spot that we missed, tell us in the comments section below.

Vote for your favorite in the survey below and remember to click on the links above and rate the park on its Patch Directory listing. You can even leave a review.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday.

The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Directory. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

If you prefer to get your bats, gloves and sticks outside of the Lower Macungie Patch area, vote for the best park in a neighboring Patch: Salisbury Patch, South Whitehall Patch, Upper Macungie Patch or Upper Saucon Patch.

For over 10 years, my children have been enjoying summer camp at Camp Brainerd (which has nothing to do with 'brains,' nor 'nerds'). Only 9 miles north of Wind Gap, Camp Brainerd (office@campbrainerd.org; 1-570-992-4127) is a very low-key, church-related camp where kids enjoy swimming, boating, and other outdoor activities, and where discussions of spirituality are done with guidance but without dogma. The kids have a great time!

Ever since i was a kid i wanted to go to Camp Men-o-Lan in Quakertown, not only did i go but when i couldnt be a camper anymore i worked there. Its a church-related camp that offers something for everyone. They have a day camp for children in kindergraden and up and there is over night camp for grades 2-12. Each day the child can pick from a varitey of games, actitvites like arts and crafts, fishing, rock wall, zip line and so much more. They will also be able to enjoy some time at the pool or the camps very own slip and slide. If your church is looking for a place to have a retreat or an outdoor service they offer that as well... Hop on over to http://www.menolan.org/ and check it out.

My boys attend boy scout (and/or cub scout) camp like I did as a child. They teach values, outdoor skills, conservation, and all without electronics for an entire week. It opens the child up to a whole new world of opportunities and experiences.
