Windows Smashed to Break into Lower Mac Cars, Police Say
Break-ins to locked vehicles are a departure from the norm of thefts from unlocked cars.
At least one prowler of Lower Macungie Township vehicles upped the ante recently by smashing windows to steal valuables inside, according to police.
To date, plenty of thefts from motor vehicles have been reported in the township but very few to locked vehicles. However, that trend changed overnight Jan. 14 when an unidentified resident had windows of two vehicles shattered to gain access to valuables, according to state police at Fogelsville.
The windows of the two vehicles were broken outside of 5116 Jarrett Farm Road between 11 p.m. Jan. 14 and 6 a.m. Jan. 15, police said. Items taken were a GPS, flashlight, $20, and insurance and registration cards.
