Request to Rezone Quarry and Rt. 100 on Tonight's BOC Agenda

The public should to be aware that a request to rezone 7513 Quarry Road will be under consideration to forward to the planning commission this Thursday at the Board of Commissioners meeting.

The item is on this week's agenda.

Note: This is SEPARATE from the Jaindl issue. This is a large tract at Rt. 100 and Quarry Roads.

This large protected farmland parcel may very well be the first additional domino to fall as a direct result of the Jaindl rezoning.

The request is to change the zoning from Agriculture Protected to Commercial. This is a major step to transforming Rt. 100 into Macarther Rd with strip mall commercial properties along the entire corridor.

Residents who have concerns with this should make their opinion known. Commissioners have stated “they had no choice” in rezoning the Jaindl land. What will be their stance on this property?

What: Board of Commissioners Meeting
When: Thursday 7pm
Where: 3400 Brookside Rd, Municipal Building

Thank you for the heads-up! No need to change ag zoning here. Especially if it's to warehouse!

In the Jaindl decision that the township solicitor and officials gloated about.... the courts ruled that essentially "too much information in a public notice can confuse residents".... to me thats insulting. If thats the case I'll blog, knock on doors, run for office.. whatever I need to do to make sure never again is a "jaindl" type rezoning done without the public knowing.

Advertising in the East Penn Press bare minimum required by law doesnt cut it.

To be clear the requested change is to Commercial or Highway Commercial. I hope to get the details tonight and will update. Either way it's likely outcome is strip malls or gas stations. Residents I spoke to do not want that. Some are resigned to the fact something is going to be built here, but everyone agrees there are much better alternatives to strip development. We have too many strips with vacancies already.

If it's gonna be commercial, how about a Lowe's....that would be nice. We all know these open lands will be something someday. No denying it.

Hi Rico, I would very much love to see a Lowes or Home depot in the township. I feel as though the appropriate location is the 222 corridor. The by-pass was built to handle the traffic of big box retail. I'm not anti growth. I'm pro-smart growth. Put things where they make the most sense. I want to see a Lowes in our township. I just want to see it in the right place.

Lowes is proposed in the Hamilton Crossings and Home Depot was proposed in the area near Krocks Rd on Hamilton. Just get the developers to move on their projects
