Tractor-trailer hits Lower Mac Barn

More tractor trailers are coming. The more our local officials invite 18 wheelers on our local roads, the more jammed up and congested they will become. This of course leads to savvy truckers looking for every possible shortcut to avoid the congestion. This means trucks on local roads. This is what happened last week on Mountain Rd.

Already, enough warehouses are in the pipeline to effectively double the square footage in our immediate surrounding area. (this includes projects in UMT) Just the Jaindl development alone will add an additional 4 million sq. Ft. This will then of course most likely double the amount of tractor trailers on our roads running roughshod on our township streets.

Meanwhile, our elected officials who faciliate warehouse development every chance they can do nothing and with seemingly no regard whatsoever for the impacts. This includes our safety, our quality of life and additional $costs$ to maintain our local roads.

"Castro's rear trailer tires first hit a concrete barrier that was supposed to protect the barn from trucks and then the truck dragged the barrier into the barn wall, police said." - Mcall.com

This recent Mcall article outlines yet another tractor trailer incident in the township on our local roads... this coupled with the recent 2nd appeal filed by appellants fighting the Jaindl subdivision, I thought it's a great time to remind people of one of the many reasons the 'Friends' group supports the appellants legal efforts. This is just one of many reasons. But for many, this one is already having a negative effect on their quality of life in the township.

When it's too late to control this problem....Just dont say we didn't warn you....

What can be done to impeach and/or remove our elected bureaucrats who have demonstrated their will to develop remaining farmlands to increase the profits and wealth of a single wealthy landowner at the expense of taxpayers and residents for generations to some? They have all clearly demonstrated they don't care about the will of the people who elected them.

Oh here goes Ron trying to scare us all again. Your comments are asinine. While yes i agree that trucker shouldn't have been at Mountain Rd and Schoeneck Rd it was because he was lost. Whether there are Warehouses or not people will get lost, i have lived in Alburtis for over 20 years and truckers have been getting lost in Alburtis for as long as i can remember. Maybe since you have all this money to waste on these lawsuits maybe you should buy all the truckers GPS systems.

"Your comments are asinine, while I agree with you" - priceless...
Special name made just to comment my blog? ha!

I wish I could contribute more towards any mechanism that overturns the Spring Creek Zoning! I've donated what I can.. in the big picture it isn't much...I wish I had more to give... but the credit goes to the many members of the community who have given generous donations ranging from 5 dollars to 1000 dollars over the last 2 years.

And also FYI every trucker has GPS nowadays. The GPS is part of the problem. GPS takes truckers the shortest distance between point A and B. Thats a big part (besides simple volume we're inviting) of the issue.
