Meadowscaping for Big and Small Spaces
You can create a beautiful outdoor environment and provide a haven for the wildlife that helps to balance our environment. It is called meadowscaping! Regardless of the size of your yard (urban, suburban, farm), you can treat yourself and your wildlife to a meadow or meadow-patch in your yard. With the side benefit of limiting the amount of grass you need to cut!
Edge of the Woods Native Plant Nursery has invited award winning photographer and film-maker Catherine Zimmerman to present a workshop on Saturday, September 8 on how to develop a meadowscape. The morning session will provide the basics of where, how & why and the afternoon, an opportunity to dig in and create a meadowscape at Edge of the Woods.
Catherine Zimmerman is a filmmaker and sustainable landscape designer based in the Washington, DC area. She is the author of Urban & Suburban Meadows, Bringing Meadowscaping to Big and Small Spaces and has just released the companion video. The book and video offer the tools to create sustainable, organic landscapes in backyards, schoolyards, churches and communities. Catherine also contributes to the blog, Native Plants and Wildlife Gardens. http://nativeplantwildlifegarden.com/the-team/catherine-zimmerman .
Catherine’s book will be available to purchase at this event.
The 2 part workshop will run from 11 am – 3:30 pm. The cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple. The workshop fee includes one copy of Catherine’s new DVD, Urban & Suburban Meadows, a $21 value. Participants can bring a lunch or select an Allentown Goose box lunch which is an addition to the registration fee.
Participants are encouraged to bring a favorite lawn chair for the morning session. For the afternoon, a trowel & bulb planter, if they have them.
Registration is available on line at: http://meadowscape.eventbrite.com. Registration/tickets can be purchased for the event or the event and the box lunch.
