Taste Chili, Eat Sweets, Do Some Holiday Shopping: Saturday

The Eyer Chili Cook-off, Bake-off and Craft Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at Eyer Middle School. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.

At long last, the day chili fans everywhere have been waiting for has finally arrived -- the Eyer Chili Cook-off, Bake-off, and Craft Fair runs from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Eyer Middle School, 5616 Buckeye Rd., Macungie.

And, by all accounts, this year's event should be bigger and better than ever.

"We have a bigger turn-out of chili-cookers, bakers, and craft vendors than we have ever had before," says event-organizer Kelsey Torpey, Eyer 7th grade social studies teacher.

For $3 admission, attendees can sample more than 25 kinds of chili, 13 desserts, and do some holiday shopping with more than 30 vendors selling all kinds of arts, crafts, and other products, says Torpey.

All proceeds from the admission price will benefit Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley.

Some Eyer school groups will also be fundraising during the Chili Cook-off, Torpey adds, selling a variety of other refreshments to raise money for their particular need or cause.
