Describe what you do. “I work at the food stands or the admissions gate, wherever I am needed at the time. At the food stands, I take the orders and serve it. At the gate, I collect donations for some of the events.”
Why and how long have you volunteered? “I started volunteering for the park when I was 12 years old — that’s 50 years ago. I did it because I wanted to. It was something to do and I could get to see the programs for free.”
Tell us about any experiences you may have had with this organization. “About five or six years ago there was a fire during one of the car shows. I don’t remember which one. It was at the french fry stand. The fire police and firefighters put it out pretty quick. It was pretty exciting. Nothing like that ever happened before or since.”
How can someone get involved with this group if they want? “Just call the park office and they will assign you somewhere.”
