Describe what you do: “I began volunteering for events at the park about 10 years ago through our church, Solomon’s UCC.  When I saw the need for more park volunteers, I became more and more involved  For the past two years I organize the volunteers and check to make sure everything runs smoothly. Our volunteers are excellent workers and save the borough a lot of money.

“The biggest events that need a lot of volunteers are Das Awkscht Fescht, the Wheels of Time and the cruise nights.

“Anything that can be done through volunteers is done.  Recent projects include work on the pool, band shell and restrooms. Some work was done by professionals, but most by park volunteers.”

How can someone get involved with this group if they want?  “Just contact the park office. Macungie Park is a self-supporting park. There are very few paid employees, therefore, volunteers are needed to survive.  Help of any kind is always needed, whether for one event or many events.  And help is especially needed by younger people.”
