The first two weeks of 2012 saw gas prices rise 12 cents because of geopolitical tensions with Iran. Through the same period in 2013, pump prices have risen only a penny, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
Gas prices fell slightly in the Lehigh Valley area over the week by about a cent, which is about 5 cents higher than a year ago.
The price per gallon in Pennsylvania is also down – by about 1 cent – since last week. The national average price of a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.297, while the average locally is $3.476.
