Get Out: Five Things to do This Weekend

There's so much to do this weekend! We have fun for a very worthy cause, jazz, the Allentown Band, a very funny movie and ROLLER DERBY!!!
When/Where: 5:30 p.m. July 15 continuing through 4 p.m. July 16 at Macungie Memorial Park.

Why Go: The fundraising event honors the life of Ben Yorgey, son of Kent and Ardyth Yorgey of Macungie. Ben, an Emmaus High School grad, was 24 when he died from an anoxic brain injury caused by a seizure suffered on May 5, 2009. Events for the whole family include a 5K run, walk and kids' run, motorcycle ride and Special Olympics swim meet on Saturday. After the Special Olympics softball game and award ceremony on Friday, the evening will be turned over to "The Large Flowerheads" at 8 p.m. The group will provide music from the 60s and 70s for all to enjoy.

Why Go: This movie got great reviews when it came out a few months ago. It's supposed to be as funny as "The Hangover." And this time girls get to have the fun.
Pricing: Adult tickets are $4. Cash only.
3. Zen for Primates
When/Where: 7:30 p.m. July 15 at Allentown Symphony Hall.
Why Go: Because Zen for Primates has been delivering jazz for decades and are still gathering new listeners.
Pricing: $20, adults; $25, students. Tickets can be ordered online.
When/Where: 5 p.m. July 16 at the Independence Family Fun Center, Schnecksville
Why Go: Really? If you really need a reason to go see the roller derby consider that the Skate Free or Die team came all the way from New Hampshire.
Pricing: $12, adults; $6, kids.
When/Where: 6:30-8 p.m. July 17 at
Why Go: Because it's the Allentown Band, and it's the perfect way to wind down the weekend.
