1. Lower Macungie Historical Society Barn Tour
When/Where: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17, beginning with an orientation at the Lower Macungie Township Municipal Building. The rest of the tour is self-guided.

Why Go: These structures are treasures and a true piece of our local history. Unfortunately, they're disappearing. They're worth seeing.
Pricing: Tickets: Adults, $15 each, two or more, $12 each; Seniors, $12 each, Under 16, $5.

2. Lower Macungie Township Document Shredding &
Electronic Recycling Day
When/Where: 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 at the Lower Macungie Township Municipal Building.
Why Go: Because you can't just throw away a computer or an air conditioner, and because shredding personal information is the best way to prevent identity theft. For township residents only, one car load per residence.
Pricing: No cost.
3. Migration Fest at Lehigh Gap Nature Center
When/Where: All day Sept. 16-18 at Lehigh Gap Nature Center, Bake Oven Knob East Penn, PA 18235.
Why Go: They're tagging monarch butterflies, tracking bats and gardening for migration.
Pricing: Small fees for some, but not all, activities.
When/Where: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. bus leaves from the Allentown Brew Works, 812 W Hamilton St.
Why Go: This time the bus goes to the Weyerbacher and Triumph breweries. With tastings at each, of course.
Pricing: $65.
5. 15th Annual Riverside Festival of the Arts
When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17-18, Larry Holmes Drive & Northampton Street, Easton.
Why Go: You'll find a sublime blend of art, music and literature.
Pricing: No admission fee.
