Local Students Gather Honors at Colleges and Universities

Three earned a sheepskin, others made the dean's list.

Several students from the East Penn area have been cited by their colleges and universities  for achievement:

* Austin David Medernach of Alburtis earned a bachelor of science degree in social studies education from Millersville University on Dec. 18.

Additionally, Lauren A. Deily and Amanda K. Shoemaker, both from Alburtis, and Alyssa N. Ackerman, Stephanie N. Goshert, Sarah E. Hess, Caitlin M. Hinkle, Bridget M. Hogue, Daniel M. Johnson and Samantha C. Lang, all from Macungie, and Kelsey A. Buxton, of Emmaus, have been named to Millersville's dean's list for the fall 2011 semester.

The students earned a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher and attempted at least 12 credits of course work.

* Christina Faust of Macungie and Hannah Nallo of Emmaus were named to the dean's list for the Fall 2011 semester at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT.

To be eligible for dean's list status, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis (A through C) to be eligible.

* Rachel Beck and Brittany Fritz, both of Emmaus, were named to the fall 2011 Dean’s List at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 for placement on the dean's list.

* Keith Sten of Macungie has been named to the dan's list at the State University of New York at Geneseo for the fall 2011 semester.

To be on the list, a student must earn a 3.5 grade point average while taking at least 12 credits.

* Wesley Loar and Drew Gehman, both of Macungie, Elizabeth Weber of Emmaus and Joshua Lambert of Alburtis were named to the dean's list a Messiah College in Grantham, Cumberland County.

Students at Messiah must achieve a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

* Jessica Ross of Macungie was named to the dean's list for the fall 2011 semester at Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY.

Students must achieve a 3.5 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale and carry a course load of at least 12 credits.

* Kyle Focht of Emmaus graduated from York College of Pennsylvania on Dec. 21. Focht earned a bachelor of science degree in marketing.

Additionally, Patrick Woods and Kristina O'Boyle, both of Macungie, and Jessica Unger of Alburtis were named to York's dean's list for the fall 2011 semester.

To be eligible, a student must be registered for at least 12 academic credit hours and earn a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher.

* James Ingram of Emmaus graduated from Lock Haven University on Dec. 17. He earned a bachelor of science in health and physical education.
