Moms Talk Q&A

Lower Macungie Patch invites you and your circle of friends to help build a community of support for mothers and their families right here in Macungie and Lower Mac.

As kids slowly turn into grown-ups, certain stages seem universal. Our first question comes from a mom whose child (gender withheld to preserve anonymity), now in middle school, seems to have evolved into a social butterfly. With the friends, however, comes "the stuff": electronics and clothes that carry certain labels and styles, all of which can be pretty pricey.

"I secretly think they do what I do, they shop at thrift shops and clearances," she says.

How can we afford to supply our kids with the things they want so they can fit in and feel on par with their friends?
