Raw, Dreary Conditions Through Tomorrow

While the weather this week is unsettled, this weekend will be excellent once again.

By Steven DiMartino

A raw, wet weather pattern will be in place through tomorrow as another marine air mass locks in over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas with low clouds, drizzle, and showers.  A hot and humid air mass invades by Friday with showers and thunderstorms.  However, while the weather this week is unsettled, this weekend will be excellent once again!

A series of disturbances along a stationary front will produce overcast to broken clouds, drizzle, and scattered showers and thunderstorms through tomorrow.  The strongest showers and thunderstorms will be capable of very heavy downpours, wind gusts over 30 mph, occasional lightning, and visibility below 2 miles at times.  Winds will be from the east at 5 to 15 mph with gusts over 20 mph.  Temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid to upper 60's over Long Island, upper 60's to lower 70's over the New York City metropolitan area, and mid to upper 70's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.  Temperatures tomorrow morning for lows will range from the lower to mid 60's.  Temperatures tomorrow afternoon for highs will range from the upper 60's to lower 70's over Long Island, mid to upper 70's over the New York City metropolitan areas, and upper 70's to lower 80's for the Philadelphia metropolitan areas.

On Friday, an area of low pressure will lift northeast towards New England with a warm front moving through in the morning followed by a cold front in the late afternoon and evening.  Showers and thunderstorms can be expected with very heavy downpours, wind gusts over 40 mph, frequent lightning, and visibility below 2 miles.   Winds will veer to the south at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 70's over Long Island and lower to mid 80's throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas.

High pressure will be in control Saturday and Sunday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover.  Winds will veer to the west and northwest at 5 to 15 mph.  Low temperatures will range from the mid 60's throughout the region.  High temperatures will range from the upper 70's to lower 80's on Saturday and mid to upper 80's on Sunday.

A series of cold fronts will attempt to move through the region on Monday and Tuesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph with higher gusts.  Low temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's.  High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 70's over Long Island, lower to mid 80's in the New York City metropolitan area and New Jersey coast, and mid to upper 80's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
