5 Reasons I Hate Reality TV

Are you on the same page or are you fan? Let me know.

1. The name.

I’m not exactly sure why they call it reality tv.  Is trying to become a huge singing sensation or competing for lots of money really reality?  If so, then I really missed the boat.  My reality consists of a job...  And student loans.

2. The strange ideas.

I don’t know who pitched the idea of following the lives of “swamp loggers” or pest-control companies who battle hogs (yes, it’s a show), but if the industry is that desperate for ideas, I think they should just stop while they’re ahead.

3. The fact that it’s staged.

I know it’s hard to believe, but a lot of shows are staged.  So I’m sorry, but the drama that goes on between the crazy chicks in “Flavor of Love” or “The Real World” isn’t real.  Which means it isn’t really reality tv anymore, is it?  It’s do what the producer says because the audience will like it tv.  (Feel free to refer back to reason #1.)

4. The money.

There are so many people working hard to make a living, yet there are people like Snooki, from “Jersey Shore” who do absolutely nothing and are paid big bucks for it.  Fact:  Snooki was paid $32,000 to speak at Rutgers University.  Toni Morrison (a Nobel Prize winner) was only paid $30k.  Anyone else think that’s a load of crap?

5. I could be doing something else.

When it comes down to it, why would I watch reality tv when I could be doing something much more productive and interesting, like reading?  Or writing?  Or sleeping?  Or staring at the wall?
