Today in History: Well, besides the obvious -- the signing of the Declaration of Independence 235 years ago -- on this day in 1826, by remarkable coincidence, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson -- the second and third Presidents of the United States, respectively --  died on the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Adams' last words were, "Thomas Jefferson still survives," though his old friend and political adversary had died a few hours before.
