Get Out: Five Things to do This Weekend

You can't help but have a great weekend with the events we have here: a gritty triathlon, a Blues festival, Restaurant Week, a walking tour and two breathtaking afternoons of wine tasting.

1. XTerra Dirty Grizzly Triathlon

When/Where: 7:30 a.m. July 31 at .

Why Go: Because it's an amazing physical challenge and the mere name makes a person want to spit nails.

Pricing: To participate starts at $110 on race day.

2. PA Blues Festival

When/Where: noon to 8 p.m. July 30 and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 31 at Blue Mountain Ski Resort.

Why Go: Because there's nothing better than the sound of the blues wafting through the air on a warm summer afternoon. Or two. Performers include John Nemeth, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, Samuel James and Otis Clay.

Pricing: Tickets are $35, adults; $10, children aged 6-12.

3. Downtown Allentown Summer Restaurant Week

When/Where: Daily through July 31 at several downtown Allentown Restaurants.

Why Go: This is the time to try out the eateries you've heard so much about including Cosmopolitan, Allentown Brew Works, House of Chen, Made in Brazil and Sangria.

Pricing: Breakfast, lunch and dinner specials between $5 and $30.

4. Walking Tour: "Along the Lehigh River: The Rise and Fall of Bethlehem Steel"

When/Where: Tours originate at 12:45 p.m. daily at the ArtsQuest Center at Steel Stacks.

Why Go: Tours along the Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces and the new Steel Stacks illustrate how blast furnaces worked, why men needed brass checks to get in the gate every morning, and which buildings housed which operation. The tour gives visitors a glimpse into the day-to-day life of a steel worker.

Pricing: $13, adults; $8, children aged 6-12.

5. Wine on the Mountain

When/Where: Noon to 5 p.m. July 30-31 at Penn's Peak.

Why Go: This is a beautiful setting for a really fun event. The eight members of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail sponsor tastings that are spectacular, and the panoramic view from the deck at Penn's Peak is breathtaking. Local artisans and crafters also sell handmade décor, accessories, and food items.

Pricing: $16. Guests must be 21 years of age.
