Today is the Shortest Day of the Year

Friday, Dec. 21, is the first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere.

Bad news for those who like daylight: we won't have much today.

The good news is days begin getting longer again on Saturday!

The sun's path will reach its southern most high noon position in the sky, directly over the Tropic of Capricorn, according to An Almanac Minute: The Winter Solstice.  The short video is attached to this article.

Keep in mind, that winter does intend to make its presence known today, too. There's a chance of snow tonight and tomorrow in the Macungie area. Less than a half inch of accumulation is expected each day.
