Buy Raffle Tickets This Week to Support Lower Mac Library

This week at the library: Raffle tickets are out, storytimes and the library will be closed Friday!

Anyone else think it’s crazy how fast this year is flying by? We’ve started APRIL already??

I hope you all survived April Fools Day relatively unscathed! Google always pulls a good trick… this year, it was about tapping out your emails. I loved the one two years ago about being able to “take back” your email after you hit send! Because who can’t relate to wanting to do that once or twice… or 50 ;)

But here at the library, we’ve hit the ground running with April. As I mentioned last week, during the entire month of April, we’ll be selling raffle tickets to raise money for the library as an extension of National Library Week next week. Through generous donations of local businesses, we’ll be raffling off a large screen HDTV (thanks to QNB!), a Simple Touch Nook eReader (thanks to Lafayette Bank!) and two tickets to Dorney Park! A couple bucks will not only get you in the running for some pretty good prizes, but also support the library in the process! Just stop in to purchase your raffle tickets-- $2 a ticket or 3 for $5! But let’s get to what’s going on this week at the library!

This week at the library:

Monday: Book It Around the World! Gr.K-1; 6:30pm. This is our regular school year program for elementary school age kids in grades K-1. In our “Around the World” theme, we’ll travel by continent across the globe and his month, we’re closing in on the finish line with stories about South America, our final destination on our global trip! We’ll hear stories from this continent and then do an activity.

Bedtime booktime; ages 2-6; drop by storytime/no signup required. Kids can come in PJs and hear bedtime stories before going home to bed! This drop-by storytime is the first Monday night of the month.

Tuesday: 4 year old storytime, 10:30am. Advanced registration is required for storytimes, as there’s a limit to how many kids I can fit into the program room, plus advanced registration helps me prepare for the right number of kids… not ending up “short” or wasting craft supplies when people don’t show, and there’s an age cutoff date based on the East Penn School District. Contact us if you’re interested.

Wednesday: 3 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes, for the same reasons as above.

Adult Book Club, 10:30am in the Township building. Contact the library for details. This month’s book is At Home: A Short History of a Private Life by Bill Bryson.

Thursday: 2 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes.

AARP Tax Aide; 1-5pm. This free service for those 60 and older of low or moderate income level is on a first-come, first-serve basis. However, the library is simply providing the meeting space, so you must come in and sign up for an appointment with the Tax Aide reps in order to meet with them, not the library. (They’re the ones keeping their own appointments, so we don’t even know what they might have available.) If they can’t take you right away, they will schedule a time for you to come in over the few remaining Thursdays that they will be doing this. For more information, call AARP at 1-888-227-7669.

Friday: The library is CLOSED. We’ll reopen at 9am on Saturday!

Also coming up in a few weeks, don’t forget to save the date for our first book sale in our new dedicated book sale space, the Book Nook!! And starting next week, there will be some special National Library Week things going on! We hope to see you stop in sometime this week!
