Last Full Week of Summer Reading Programs!

How did we already make it to the LAST full week of programs for the Summer Reading Program? The pool party finale is next week!

It’s hard to believe I’m typing this, but this is the LAST full week of programs for the summer reading program! Wow! Barring any rainy weather, we are all set to enjoy the pool party finale next Monday at the township pool (more details below) and the kids have until the end of the week to finish the reading incentive program and then the 2012 Summer Reading Program is in the books! Can you guys believe that August starts this week already?

A few announcements before I get into the programs this week. First, if you haven’t yet, please take a chance to fill out the 2012 Customer Satisfaction Survey. Everyone who takes the couple of minutes to fill it out can be entered into a raffle for a prize. Also, please take 30 seconds to nominate us for the LEGO DUPLO Read! Build! Play! Project (State: PA, City: Macungie, Branch: Lower Macungie Library)… and we could win an early literacy kit from LEGO! One of our patrons was so awesome to initially nominate us, and we’ve moved up to about 107 the last time I checked. The top 200 libraries get kits and the top library wins $5,000! Links are available on our Facebook page, where it would be awesome if you shared the link to vote!

With the summer reading program ending, I wanted to give some information about the pool party finale. We have DJ Jimbo coming to play music from 3-6:30pm, and Haffner & Associates, CPAs in Macungie have generously provided the funds for Rita’s! On top of that, we have tons of giveaways. I’ve contacted everyone who will receive free pool passes, so if you got that call or email, the passes are available at the front desk. If you don’t plan on coming any more, please let us know so we can get those to another family. One final  announcement about the finale is that our rain plan is for inside the community center… with all the Rita’s and DJ Jimbo and freebies… from 6:30-7:30 that same night.

As we start getting closer to the end of the summer reading program for kids and the finale event, don’t forget to keep on top of tracking books! Just under a week to track for adults and two weeks left to track for kids and teens! The last week will be here before you know it and you may forget some titles! Come in anytime the week of August 6th and fill out the final red colored “marker” for your child to have a chance at being a top reader for his or her age group. Whether you’ve been tracking online or print logs, you need to fill one out to enter. We have some great prizes to hand out to top readers, like a free kids meal at Texas Roadhouse, a Crayola set or a book! We prefer that print logs remain in the library, but if you’ve taken them home, they must be returned by next Saturday, August 11th to count, and the online tracking site will not allow you to log after 5:00 p.m. on the 11th. If you have any questions, check the Parents tab of the Children’s Homepage or our online program calendar for more information and stay tuned through our Facebook page for up-to-the-moment announcements! We hope to see you in sometime soon at the library!
