Lower Mac Library's Summer Reading Signups are Out!

Summer Reading Club signups went out over the weekend at Lower Macungie Library! Stop in and signup!

Last weekend was the start of the summer reading signups and, as always, I was impressed by the number of diehard parents outside our doors before we open at 9 a.m.!

It was a busy morning and I don’t think I stopped talking for the first 2.5 hours of the day, but hopefully anyone who came out was able to get the information they needed!

And if you haven’t signed up yet, hurry in! Certain programs, like the Monday Family nights accommodate large audiences, some don’t. I’m already taking names on the waiting list for a Star Wars storytime in July. ;)

There is only ONE children’s program this week, the last regular bedtime booktime until fall, since I’m in and out of the library visiting the East Penn elementary schools, but you can always come in anytime, there’s plenty of reason to come in.If you have children of any age, you’re going to want to stop in and see what all we’re doing this summer.

We have Monday family nights, Tuesday elementary school programs, preschool storytimes, teen blog series, book discussions, the aforementioned Star Wars storytime… not to mention, we’re handing out prizes for the kids if they keep reading!

At our kickoff event, two weeks from today, I’ll be handing out all kinds of freebies, like free kids meal bookmarks to Boston’s and Texas Roadhouse, coupons for money off Dorney Park day passes, free bowling, oh… and Rita’s! Also, if kids dress up as whatever they want to be when they grow up, they can win a prize!

This week at the library:

Monday: Bedtime booktime, 7:30pm, Ages 2.5-6, no signup required. Kids can come dressed in PJs and hear some bedtime stories!

Wednesday: Adult Book Discussion; 10:30 in the LMT “ballroom." This month’s selection was Horse Heaven by Jane Smiley. Please contact the library for more details.

If you have any questions on Summer Reading, please check the Parents tab of the Children’s Homepage or our online program calendar for more information. If you still have questions on anything going on this summer, please contact us.

As a heads up, some patrons have notified us that they’re experiencing a “too many connections” error when they go to the online tracking website. We’ve contacted the website developer, but we think it’s a “high volume” issue — there are a lot of people signing up to read this summer! But we’ll let you know. You can get updates on this or any other programs or library information at our Facebook page. But we hope you’ll stop in and sign up before things fill up!

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
