This Packed Week at the Library

This week at the library is full of PA German classes, bedtime stories, preschool storytimes, baby programs and computer classes!

“Fall at the library also means a return to “normal” school year schedules here at the library!”

That was a direct quote from my “This Week at the Library” blog post last week. I should have known better than to say something crazy like that! Last week was anything but normal, as East Penn was closed Wednesday and Thursday! It was as busy as a mid-summer day here at the library, but we started our school year storytimes all the same! This week, we’ll have week 2 of storytimes (still some availability) but also the return of computer classes and the start of the 15 week Pennsylvania German classes. So here’s a run-down of this packed week…

This week at the library:

Monday: PA German classes at The Hills at Lockridge Rec Center, 7-9pm. This program is FULL, so this is a reminder for those of you who’ve already registered. Don’t forget to bring money for a PA German dictionary if you need one tonight!

Bedtime Booktime, ages 2-6, 7:30pm. Bring the kids out in their PJs to hear some bedtime stories (Miss Erin will wear hers, too!), pick some books and then head home to bed! Our popular bedtime stories storytime is back for the new school year! No signup required.

Tuesday: 4 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Advanced registration is required for storytimes, as there’s a limit to how many kids I can fit into the program room, plus advanced registration helps me prepare for the right number of kids… not ending up “short” or wasting craft supplies when people don’t show, and there’s an age cutoff date based on the East Penn School District. At this time, I still have spots in both 4 year old storytimes. Contact us if you’re interested.

Wednesday: 3 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes, for the same reasons as above. At this time, the morning storytime is filled and the afternoon has a few remaining spots. Contact us if you’re interested.

Intro to the Web, 11am-1pm. Adult computer class. Advanced registration is required, as well as a $5 class registration fee. Come learn the basics of surfing the Internet, searching, etc. Expectation for students is that you already know the basics of computer use (mouse, clicking, keyboard, etc.).

Thursday: 2 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. This is the same as the 3s… both in advanced registration, reasons and current availability status. Contact us if you’re interested.

Friday: Baby Lapsit, 9:30am, a “beginner storytime”/introduction to the library for children who  are 11 months old or younger as of 9/12/11; advanced registration required.

Ones Storytime, 10:30am; a “beginner storytime”/introduction to the library for children who are between 12-23 months as of 9/12/11; advanced registration required.

Some come in and check out what we have going on this week at the library! And stay tuned for a post later in the week for any of you interested in e-Readers like the Nook or Kindle or e-Books!
