This Week at the Library: A Whole Lot of Reading Going On

Starting Week 3 of the Summer Reading Program at the library, broken up with a closing for the 4th of July.

You guys really respond to a challenge! In the past week, another 700 books have been read, just logged in the online tracking site! I haven't included the print logs kids are keeping out in the children's area or the teen and adult raffle slips. One of these years, I'm going to let the kids do something crazy like dye Miss Erin's hair or something if they break their record from the previous summer ;) So keep going!

This is another full week, broken up by a 4th of July closing! We’ve definitely seen more of you in the library in recent weeks. I loved hearing from one mom whose son just started participating in the summer reading program this year, who told me the reason they had started coming out was because her son had enjoyed library day at school and wanted to keep going to the library over the summer. So a lot of new faces, too! I think I shared last summer, but July is typically our highest circulation month, with some of our people count and circulation statistics nearly doubling normal volume. The staff jokes about eating our Wheaties in the morning ;)

Just as a reminder, you can sign up for any of the 3 Reading Incentive Programs at any time through August 11th, but the programs typically require advanced registration and many have limited spots available. But really, there’s something for every age group this summer. If you have any questions on Summer Reading for the kids, please check the Parents tab of the Children’s Homepage or our online program calendar for more information and stay tuned through our Facebook page for up-to-the-moment announcements! We hope to see you in sometime soon at the library!
