This Week at the Library: Community Day and More!

Community Day, to be held throughout the Community Center, is a must-attend event on Tuesday! That and more, this week at the library!

Well the weather outside’s not so lovely at the start of the week, but that doesn’t matter for tomorrow’s Community Day -- 4-8 p.m. -- here at the LMT Community Center! I want to make sure I give a plug for what is sure to be an AWESOME event, rain or shine! No weather threat is going to keep this event from being a great opportunity for all ages, so I think I speak for everyone working in this building when I say, “You do NOT want to miss this!” What is "this"?

The 2nd Annual Community Day!! Just to give you an idea of the sheer number of activities going on, there will be: a petting zoo, face painting, caricature artist, bounce house, coloring contest, sand art for the kids. (All but the petting zoo and bounce house can go on as scheduled inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate!)

Tons of local businesses will be here, showing you what they offer… so you know there’s probably going to be some free giveaways or samples!

There will be a blood drive, child ID cards and fingerprinting, child seat checks by the State Police, a visit by the medivac helicopter.

Clifford the Big Red Dog, Smokey the Bear and SpongeBob will be around, and everybody’s favorite Iron Pig, Ferrous, will make a special appearance at some point.

Your favorite library will have a table in the gym as well, and that’s your first opportunity to get a peek at the Summer Reading schedule! If weather permits, there will be a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card for anyone who walks the track around the community center.

Oh, and the Women’s Association for the Lower Macungie Fire Department will be making food, running the snack shop in the community center! There is plenty going on, no matter the weather. In fact, if it IS rainy, it’s a great opportunity to get out and do something with the family rather than being cooped up inside all day! Plus, this is a great opportunity to mingle with your “extended neighborhood”… chances are, you’ll run into friends from around the community while you’re here! In fact, why not plan to meet some friends to enjoy the event together! This is Community Day after all! Now on to some library events…
