This Week at the Library: Time to Wear Costumes!

This week at the library, we'll be doing Halloween stories and kids can dress up in their costumes. Also, a few different adult program options!

I just love this time of year… the leaves are turning, the air’s getting crisp. And this week coming up is one I always look forward to coming every year. I get to embrace my inner child and dress up nearly all week. (For the record, I prefer “child–like” over “childish” ;) )

This is the week kids can wear their costumes to storytime… even though Halloween is the middle of next week. We’re leading up to our big Halloween drop-by on Saturday, Oct. 27, and also, like I said last week, if we waited until the week of Halloween, the poor 2 year olds would be getting Halloween stories after the fact!

This week at the library:

Find out what's happening in Lower Macungiewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Tuesday: 4 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Advanced registration is required for storytimes, as there’s a limit to how many kids I can fit into the program room, plus advanced registration helps me prepare for the right number of kids… not ending up “short” or wasting craft supplies when people don’t show, and there’s an age cutoff date of 9/12 based on the East Penn School District. Contact us if you’re interested. This week, kids can come dressed in their Halloween costumes!

Genealogy Basics; 11am-1pm; Learn the basics of searching your family’s history using library databases and other online resources. Advanced registration and a $5 fee is required.

Janet and Arti Persing will present a program on rain water harvesting.  Learn the many advantages to collecting rain water in barrels to use in your garden; see how you can feed the flora and fauna and reduce your water bill. Contact the library for details or registration.

Wednesday: 3 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes, for the same reasons as above. This week, kids can come dressed in their Halloween costumes!

Intro to Computer Basics Level 2, 11am-1pm. Topics will include how to cut and paste, file management, webpage toolbar functions, control panel functions, and simple web searches. Advanced registration and a $5 fee is required.

Thursday: 2 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes. This week, kids can come dressed in their Halloween costumes!

Library Board Meeting; 5pm in library program room. Open to the public.

Saturday: Heritage Quest Workshop, 10:00am. Delve further into researching your family history with a workshop on the Heritage Quest database. Advanced registration and a $5 fee is required.

Halloween Drop-by Storytime; 10:30am. Children 2.5 to 10 years of age are invited to come to the library and hear some Halloween stories. Kids are allowed to wear costumes and Miss Erin will be handing out some treats! No signup required.

I’m really looking forward to this week! Doing the final preparations on 4 different costumes and waiting to see how the kids will dress up… and how the costumes will throw them off ;) As always, please contact the library for details on any programs.
