This Week at the Library: Fall Signups!

In the hustle of wrapping up summer reading last week, I missed the weekly post, but there were only two programs last week... we "graduated" the baby classes up to the next age level!

THIS week, the big thing going on is that Fall signups go out Monday morning! All baby, preschool, elementary and middle grade program signups go out. The morning preschool storytimes and youngest elementary school age programs fill out the fastest, so get in sooner if your child falls into one of those. On an administrative note, I will only be in to assist you with questions or signups on Monday and Tuesday of this week. I'm getting married on Friday and will be away from the library for two weeks beginning on Wednesday. In the meantime, if you need assistance with signing up, you can speak with the director, Kathee. If you have any questions on programs themselves or need readers' advisory or reference help for kids, you can speak with Sarah, and she will assist you. I'll be back on Thursday, September 5th.

We really did “Dig into Reading” this summer! About 250 children and teens read almost 8,000 books this summer! In addition to the reading, we had about 50 programs in the library, hosted a traveling gnome, went on a “field trip” to the new Butterfly Garden the Lower Macungie Garden Club created, and we celebrated how much we read with a pool party at the township pool complete with Rita’s and DJ! We’d like to thank DJ JIMBO and Ai Orthodontics for participating in our Kickoff event back in June, the garden club for showing the beautiful garden to our eager readers, Bar None Weddings and Entertainment for DJing the finale and Haffner and Associates, CPAs for providing the Rita’s!

All top readers have been notified, so please stop in and pick up your prize if you haven't yet! Thanks to the Emmaus Rotary Club for donating $500 towards the top reader prizes! Thanks also go out to all of our local businesses that supported us during the summer reading program this year!

Another great summer reading program in the books! We hope to see you for Fall programs, too! So please let us know if you have any questions, and if I don't see you in the next couple of days, see you in September!
