Celebrate July 4 in Macungie

Many patriotic activities are happening in Macungie this weekend.

Everyone is encouraged to attend the dramatic presentation, "American Scrapbook"  celebrating the writings, speeches, and poetry of American history on Friday, July 1 @ 7 pm in the Auditorium of the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main Street, Macungie.  Tickets are $4 and you may reserve your seats by callling 610-285-7252.  Tickets may also be purchased at the door.  There is limited seating.

If you are looking for a fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July on Monday, consider attending the Old Fashioned 4th of July Picnic at Macungie Memorial Park.  There will be a fun parade starting at the Information Booth at 10 am - decorate your bike, scooter, wagon or stroller - and marchers are also welcome to join in the fun.  Assorted instruments will be available and Rita's Mascot will be there - there will be free Rita's Water Ice to the first 200 participants immediately following the parade.

There will also be the 5th Annual Rubber DUCK RACE in the Creek starting at 11 am.  $5/ per duck tickets will be available.  Ticket is good for hot dog & Coke at the Pool Snack Bar.  It's a wild race with great prizes!

The Macungie Band will play at 1 pm in the Park Band Shell.  The Macungie Fire Department and Ambulance Corps will have equipment on display. 

No reservation needed to picnic on the grounds.  Bring the family, friends, and of course Food OR food will be available at the Park/Pool.   There will be contests/games for children of all ages prior to the Duck Race and while waiting for the Duck Race results to be posted.
